Dare To Declare Who You Are!

How many times have you walked away from a conversation, an event, a call and thought:

"Oops I did it again! I can't believe I shared that with her or him!"

You relax, you let your guard down and you open your heart in seach of a deep connection. But then you sit back and wait for the judgement and feelings of shame to wash over you.

Maybe like me, these feelings have grown from years of taking the risk to be vulnerable and honest only to be rejected for being fully YOU. I could spend all day telling you about the times I let the walls of my heart down only to have it attacked and rejected.

But why do that???

I am finally telling myself to just STOP with the self shaming, the over-thinking and

over-analyzing. I am just so ready to be OVER all that!

My word for 2021 is UNHINDERED. To me that means to BE ME - authentic, vulnerable, unashamed, RAW, revealed.

“Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable.

Be honest and transparent anyway.”

– Mother Teresa

I have always admired and been attracted to friends who are RAW. Who show you their heart without reservation. They speak their mind and their truth without fear or shame. They walk bravely in who they are created to be, completely unhindered. I have and am learning so much from their example.

When I told my authentic dear friend Kathryn that my #oneword is Unhindreded, she said to me "You're like a vault. I am glad you are becoming unhindered because it does make the connections deeper." And isn't THAT what we all crave - deeper soul connections?

Yes, we risk judgement and rejection from others, but that risk pales in comparison to the immense joy we gain from deeper and more soulful connections. And always remember to never "settle for a relationship that won’t let you be yourself” (Oprah Winfrey).

Hildegard Von Bingen a nun, poet, composer, and saint from the 1100's wrote:

"Dare to declare who you are.

It is not far from the shores of silence to the boundaries of speech.

The path is not long, but the way is deep.

You must not only walk there, you must be prepared to leap.”

Reflect on her wise words from 1000 years ago - DARE TO DECLARE WHO YOU ARE!

Know WHO you are.

Know WHAT you believe.

Know WHERE you are going and WHERE you come from.

Know your WHY.

HOW you declare that to others is what makes you unique.

Embrace YOUR Journey!
